Religion
This is Mali's mud mosque in Djenne. It is a religious building made entirely out of mud. Most Malians are followers of the religion Islam.They will fall to the ground in front of mosques like this one. Some people will shun members of other faiths, but a lot of Malians are accepting and kind to almost everyone. They live no worry, no hurry lives. 90% of Malians are Muslim (Islamic), 5% are Christian, and 5% follow traditional African beliefs. Very few people are atheists and agnostics live in Mali.

Farming
Most of the Malians who work are farmers. Mali is an agricultural country, because they have a lot of good land and less people, due to the high death rate, but the population will grow because of a large birth rate. Farmers grow a variety of foods including shea, peanuts, rice, and cotton.

Education
The number of educated individuals in Mali is rising. Schools are popping up everywhere! The government understands the need for education, and has greatly increased the amount of government spending on education. Most children go to primary school. Less carry on to secondary school because they are needed at home on the farm. Much fewer can afford to go on to college.
